Scary Halloween Doll Makeup

Boo! Its nearly Halloween so it was a must that I did a Makeup Tutorial, sadly I am not going to a Halloween Party this year but that hasn't stopped me dressing up. If you hadn't guessed I am a Doll so this is how to achieve the look.
I tried to look scary here but failed miserably however, I firstly did the base of my makeup using the Rimmel Lasting Finish Primer followed by L'oreals 24hr Infalliable Foundation all over my face buffing in as normal - too make this more scary maybe try using a lighter colour foundation but as I am the lightest shade I had to settle for this - I then concealed any problem areas before using Talcum Powder as a setting powder to make my face appear paler.
I then used an ashy contour in the hollow of my cheeks, nose and beneath my bottom lip as dolls have a very shaped face. I then went for the typical doll look by using a barbie doll pink cream blusher and dabbed it on without blending out to emphasise the cheeks.  Onto the thing I found the most fun in the whole look I used a eyeliner pen and put small dots over my cheeks to give the look of freckles.
For eyes I wanted them to look big and standout, my eyes are already a bright blue so this helped to give the effect of a doll however I then using a NYX eyeshadow in Taupe all over my lid and a darker brown in the crease keeping it basic as a doll doesn't wear  heavy eyes makeup. I then lined my eyelid with the Collection 24hr Eyeliner and applied a coat of mascara onto my top lashes using the Seventeen Va Va Voom Mascara and applied a pair of Ardell Demi Wispy False Eyelashes. I then used Rimmel Scandaleyes Eyeliner and smoked it out before applying a white liner on my waterline and a coat of Clinique mascara on my bottom lashes.

Moving onto the mouth I decided to overdraw my lips with Barry M Red Lipliner and then filled them in with Rimmel Apocalips in Big Bang before drawing lines down from my mouth to chin with a pencil eyeliner. For hair I had curled hair from the day before so then just tied to bunches either side to give a 'crazed doll effect'.

So thats my scary. Wait no... trying to be scary Doll Makeup Look!

What are you dressing as for Halloween?

Hounds Tooth OOTD

Recently I have been monochrome obsessed, perfect through every season and perfect for the current part of my life. Moving into Sixth Form, with no uniform except smart, office wear this seemed just the right choice pairing a thick, dogtooth pattern skirt with a simple black vest and statement necklace.

The dogtooth patterned pencil skirt was a surprise find when roaming through my local Matalan and I instantly fell in love, I find it looks best with a black top so as the sun was out I went for a standard black cami top from Newlook. Accessory wise, as mentioned earlier I went for a statement necklace, I particularly like this one which is just simple silver triangles giving a bit of edge to the look. Finally as this was a work/ sixth form outfit I used my massive Primark bag perfect for an over packer like me.

Why I am Happy It Is Autumn!

I have probably been excited for Autumn since the middle of August as I get bored of summer very quickly so I am happy to say it is finally here as whilst I write this I can see from my window the leaves blowing around in the sky so I thought I would make a list of the reasons Autumn is finally here.

Wrapping up warm - Whether its a coat, jumper or even a blanket who doesn't love to just be cosy.

Berry Lipsticks - Becoming acceptable to wear them during the day without people thinking your over the top.

Boots - I know boots are a all year round fashion item however I just find they become slightly more wearable in Autumn leading into winter, with big cosy socks beneath.

Starbucks - Starbucks is acceptable all year around but when its cold outside there is no excuse why not to buy a hot chocolate in that photogenic cup.

Scarves - A must in Autumn but it also makes me feel like winters just around the corner which makes me very very happy.

Food - Food! Autumns the perfect excuse to start eating those feel good hearty meals and an excessive amounts of unhealthy snacks when watching TV.

Leaves - Gatherings of leaves on the floor, floating to the ground and the changing of the colours is just too instagram friendly not to love.

Darker Evenings - Means not feeling guilty about wasting your Saturday evening doing nothing.

What's your favourite thing about Autumn?

Book Corner: Billy & Me By Giovanna Fletcher

When I was younger I used to read a LOT, I probably got through a book a week I was that typical book worm however over time I have read less and less, partly because I have had a very small amount of time around my GCSE's but also because I just could not find a book I really enjoyed, on numerous occasions I started a book and just couldn't get into it but finally I have found a book I have actually enjoyed from start to finish.

Obviously I don't want to give out any spoilers, however I thought my little 'book corner' could prove a great addition to my blog, starting with what may be my favourite book.

Rating: ★★★★★

I initially chose to read this purely on the basis that I love the Fletcher family and I knew how creative they were not releasing anything thats not perfect and Giovanna proved this once again.

Being Giovannas debut novel it felt right to read this first and cannot wait to read Christmas with Billy & Me because who doesn't love a festive book?

Synopsis from Good Reads:

"Sophie May has a secret. One that she’s successfully kept for years. It’s meant that she’s had to give up her dreams of going to university and travelling the world to stay in her little village, living with her mum and working in the local teashop.
But then she meets the gorgeous Billy – an actor with ambitions to make it to the top. And when they fall in love, Sophie is whisked away from the comfort of her life into Billy’s glamorous – but ruthless – world.

Their relationship throws Sophie right into the spotlight after years of shying away from attention. Can she handle the constant scrutiny that comes with being with Billy? And most of all, is she ready for her secret heartbreak to be discovered and shared with the nation?"
From the start I found the story heart-warming and full of charm, I am probably the soppiest person ever and love a good romance however I have seen countless books where girl meets boy and they just don't cut it with me, they are all the same and I have found nearly every one I have got bored of but the fact the story has a twist of a girl being thrust in to the celebrity spotlight - something Giovanna has portrayed perfectly - must be why I found it so interesting and know I will constantly pull it off my book shelf.
Sophie is a quiet, shy girl living in a quaint english village with her mom working at the local teashop with little old lady Molly. Sophie seems such a lovely character someone anyone could instantly warm to whilst Billy a up and coming actor brimming with charm who wants a 'normal' girl and a simplistic life with sweet gestures any girl would fall for that leading to me wanting a Billy in my life. The two meet in the coffee shop and instantly have a connection with their romance warming your heart.

I love how the pair meet earlier on in the story meaning you can see there love blossom but also see the obstacles they come across instead of the usual will they won't they which I often find in a chic-lit. Sophie has to overcome the press digging in to her life, Billy's work and the London life completely polar opposite to village life but I also love the fact Sophie stays down to earth through out the book instead of changing into the typical glamorous woman and she doesn't change her values with her new found life.

The book occasionally throws back to her childhood, and more specifically a day that changed her life forever showing life then to now and how it haunts her years later making her a completely different person to her original self. I also love the contrast between the city girl and village lass. Apart from the obvious main characters I absolutely loved Molly, who's wise words proved useful to Sophie in working out what to do but also something I - as a reader - could use in everyday life.

Overall the book provides a heart warming book, where you just want Sophie and Billy to work out desperately as I loved there relationship. The book was written perfectly portraying all emotions of characters, without being cheesy but also providing a very teary moment towards the end. This book was full of charm and completely endearing.

Beauty Find! NYX Eyeshadow

Eyeshadow has to be my favourite makeup product, and is probably the favourite part of my makeup collection however I had got so tired of British drugstore products despite many being really good, and my bank won't stretch to buy all the high end eyeshadows I crave so whilst surfing Amazon I came across NYX and bought a few products and I love the eyeshadows particularly this in True Taupe.

The product is amazing value for the price at around £3- £5 with excellent pigmentation and doesn't crease whatsoever. It lasts really long on the eye but I still prefer to use a primer to make sure it lasts as long as possibly.

The colour is also ideal for autumn, as it mixes so well with browns and gold tonnes but is also an amazing transition colour for any eye look. I usually build this up and use it in my crease on a day to day basis when I can't be bothered however I also use it to blend out a smokey eye on an evening. The fact this is matte pleased me so much as its so hard to find a fully matte drugstore eyeshadow with as good pigmentation as this, what ever look I go for this seems the perfect crease colour and will definitely try out many more of these shadows.

What's your eyeshadow recommendation?

Neutral Eye Look

Sorry its a day late! I had trouble with my internet and forgot to schedule, how ironic with my previous post being how to be an organised blogger! However I have been loving eyeshadow recently and have been going a bit out there with it using colours such as purple! Yes I know purple! But have also been loving a more natural look, soft and subtle but gives the perfect definition.

To prime my eyes I used the MUA Eye Primer which I really rate for making eyeshadow last, I have found it is probably one of the best I have tried!

I started off by using the white shade in the Makeup Revolution Iconic Three palette to highlight the inner corners of my eye and my brow bone, before going in with the transition colour, also from the Iconic Three palette, which is the matte light brown and blended this throughout my crease blending outwards, I was very messy with this as we will clean it up afterwards.

I then used the NYX single eyeshadow in Taupe and used this in the very outer corner of my eye then blended all the eyeshadows together using a very fluffy brush. For the lid colour I went for a matte white eyeshadow and blended this over my eye as I find it makes my eyes look a lot bigger. Using a tiny bit of the NYX eyeshadow I then buffed together the edge of the white and the rest of the colours making another subtle transition.

I then used a wipe to make a straight line with my eyeshadow and collect any fallout from the eyeshadow beneath my eye. Then using my favourite eyeliner at the moment which happens to be the Soap & Glory Supercat Eyeliner I created my much loved winged eyeliner.

I then applied Maybellline Lash Sensational to my top lashes before doing all my face makeup.

Once my face makeup was done I went in with the NYX taupe and smudged this beneath my eyes then buffed it in by putting a tiny amount of the light brown from the Iconic Three Palette, to finish off I applied a few more coats of mascara to my top lashes then one coat to my bottom lashes.

What colour do you love to wear on your eyes?

5 Organisation Tips For Blogging

I have felt very organised when it has came to blogging, posting at the correct times and building up a schedule. It has taken a lot of getting used to rather than posting any time I felt like but I feel it has
really made an improvement to the quality of my posts.
Planning
Before even opening up my computer I always like to plan, I start of thinking of several ideas then working them into post format deciding titles, what to write and what photos would be the best. I usually have a brainstorming session after picking out ideas from the internet and magazines this makes me feel a lot more prepared before staring into the empty screen of my computer.

Calendar
Using the planned post I put them into my Calendar or similarly you could use a diary. Personally I use the one on my mac but you could use a paper format. I like to set out each post and choose which day to post. This is where choosing upload days comes in handy. My uploading schedule is Wednesdays and Sundays so on my calendar I know what days to fill, I then try to separate them so not to many makeup posts are together nor too many baking posts etc. I try and fill up two weeks worth so thats four posts for me but you can work this out to suit you.
Take Photos In Bulk
For each post you want to write you should of planned the photos (as said in planning section) so it should be quite easy to know what you are including saving time, find good lighting and take all the photos you need plus more just in case some don't turn out too well, then upload to relevant posts.

Write in advance
I wouldn't advise bulk writing as this can often lead to mistakes, but to stay organised I usually like to write the post the day before so I know it is all ready and I have time to make changes leading to me not being rushed.
Scheduling
Finally scheduling, after writing a post I would say its a good idea to schedule the post as if you suddenly become busy at the time you want to post, you will still go 'live' at the time you want.
Aswell as scheduling blogposts its a good idea to use an app to schedule various tweets and Facebook posts promoting your post as again this means you don't need to worry about freeing up a certain time of the day to post and promote.

I hope this comes in useful and makes your blogging experience as relaxed and organised as possible.
