Festive Makeup and Outfit

Christmas is the perfect time to dress up and get glam, so I always look forward to finding the perfect outfit and complimentary makeup. Of course I go for the classic gold eye and red lip on many of the occasions and for my dress I went for something I had nothing similar to.

I started off applying my usual foundation and eyebrow routine which you can find HERE in my winter look. I then went onto eyes using some KIKO shadows which have became my go to and have quite an obsession for buying due to the amazing quality but unbelievable affordable price especially as the shops seem to have amazing sales ALL THE TIME. So I began using Urban Decay Shadow in the shade Riff in the crease as a transition shade before applying KIKO's shade 10 which is beautiful rich warm brown in the outer corner to deepen the socket. Then for the intense shimmer I love this season i used KIKO's Wet and Dry Shadows in and packed that all over the main part of my lid which is so pretty and glittery. I then did a classic flick of liner using Soap and Glory Supercat and then lashings of Lancome Hypnose Mascara.
For lips I used Rimmel's 01 which is my go to this season.

Onto Outfit, I actually bought the dress from Rare London as I was after something a bit different and velvet seemed to be cropping up everywhere due to being on the catwalk for A/W16. Although I had never bought anything from here before the quality is amazing and I think it looks really pretty and festive. I then paired it with some over the knee Boots - again something very out my comfort zone and then because its Christmas the tackiest earrings I could find from Primark, but lets be real I hardly did it as a fashion statement. I also went for a dainty necklace I received as a gift. Then of course as its cold my black coat with a fur collar which I bought last year so I sadly can't link to.

Christmas Mince Pie Traybake

If you love Mince pies like me, you will love this! Especially if you need something a bit different last minute as a nice dessert. Personally I love it slightly warm but its equally nice cold and as I said it is last minute so only takes around 30 minutes and very little ingredients.

Ingredients:

150g butter
1/2 tbsp mixed spice
150g plain flour
125g ground almonds
65g brown sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
300g mincemeat

Method:
I began by putting all the dry ingredients into a bowl and mixed them together.

I then melted the butter until it was slightly browned then left to cool before pouring it in and combing it with the dry ingredients until just before it formed a doughy consistency so it made small crumb/ nugget like pieces of dough.

I then put half the mixture into a lined tray and pushed it down so it was compact. I then poured all the mincemeat on top and again flattened. Finally I crumbled the remaining dough like mixture on top so it looks like crumbs.

This then went into the oven at 170c for 20- 25 minutes.

Finally enjoy!

Christmas Chocolate Orange Shortbread

When Christmas comes around I love to bake and I found this recipe and thought it sounded like Christmas in a biscuit due to orange, chocolate and spices plus it's the perfect quick and easy thing to bake and then sit cosy with a hot drink and of course a Christmas film.
Ingredients:

250g plain flour
75g Caster Sugar
75g Butter
75g Chocolate Chips (white and milk)
2tsps of Orange Rind
1tsp of Cinnamon

Method:

I began by lining two baking trays and preheated the oven to 180c
I then began stirring together the flour, sugar and cinnamon so they were thoroughly mixed together.
I then put in the butter and worked the mixture into breadcrumbs.
Then mix in the orange rind and chocolate chips before making a ball of dough ready to roll out on a floured surface.
I rolled the mixture out to about 1cm thick and then used Christmas cookie cutters to create the shapes.
I then put them in the oven for about 20 minutes.
Leave to cool and then ENJOY!

Christmas Party Makeup Look | Smoky Eyes & Nude Lip

I do love a good Christmas party and mainly because it's an extra excuse to dress up and get glam so I went for a bit of a different look with a dark smokey eye and nude lip as not everyone wants to go for the traditional gold eye, red lip combo but don't fear that will come very soon as if you have read my blog for a while you will know it is my go to.

So for this look, I started with the L'Oreal True Match Foundation which is my holy grail at the minute, then to conceal any blemishes I used the trusty Collection Lasting Perfection and the Seventeen Let's Face It Palette which is slightly higher coverage which I placed on dark circles. I then moved onto Contour using Benefit Hoola on a flat contour brush and then buffed it out with Soap & Glory Solar Powder around the edge of my face. I then left the skin as I wanted it to be natural and the eyes to be the main focus.
For eyes, I used a mix of MAC shadows and Maybelline The Nudes Palette, I used MAC's Cork in the crease as a transition shade then deepened it using Aromatic also by MAC. Then for the lid I used Don't Tell to add a slight shimmer but optionally, glitter can be added which would look stunning. for the outer V and beneath my eye I used the Black shade from Maybelline. To finish I did a line of Soap & Glory Supercat liner. Onto brows I used a wax which I don't usually go for from the Rimmel Brow This Way range.

Finally, for lips, I wore Rimmel East End Snob liner and for an ombre effect I used a metallic Shade in the centre featured in a Seventeen Lip Palette which you can see in my Christmas Essentials (link here) as it also has some beautiful Reds.

Christmas Essentials

It's the most wonderful time of the year! (guarantee you sang that, if not why not?!) so to kick off my Christmas posts I thought I would share my all time needed things to make the season extra festive!

Starting off with decorations, if your house isn't looking like Santa's grotto, I'm sorry to tell you, your doing it all wrong. But really Christmas just isn't Christmas without baubles, wreaths and tinsels, I usually go for a bit more of a classic style just because I think its the cutest.

Then of course once my house looks like a grotto it's absolutely essential to walk around with a Christmas jumpers, slippers, pyjamas, and yes even socks because I feel you just can't do these christmas festivities without them. (maybe don't wear them all out tho) ;)
Onto entertainment, Christmas can't be Christmas without the traditional films, I can't choose a favourite but in last year's Christmas posts I did a collection of my Top 10 you could find HERE also my favourite thing to do whilst wrapping presents! I have also been obsessed with reading Christmas books especially with a mug of hot chocolate, Skipping Christmas is based on the film Christmas with the Kranks which I love about a family who's daughter goes away for Christmas so they decide to go on a cruise but it all goes wrong.
Onto makeup, of course, I love a red lip especially Rimmel Kate 01 which has blue undertones so suits my skin tone perfectly, it also lasts a very long time and has amazing pigmentation, I also love the Clinique lipsticks as they are so moisturising which is definitely needed in the winter season. However something else I have been loving is a lip palette from Seventeen, as the shimmer shades are perfect to put in the centre of the lips to contrast with the red giving a fuller plump and the extra sparkle needed for Christmas.

Finally a gold mascara, I received this from Avon and it is perfect for Christmas, i just apply it to the tips and it adds a lovely sparkle that glistens in the light, making it essential for a Christmas party!

What are your Christmas essentials?
